Jesus in Charge
Mark 2:8-11

The teachers did not believe Jesus could forgive sin.

8 Right away Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Is it easier to say to this man, ‘Your sins are forgiven’? Or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus spoke to the man who could not walk. 11 “I tell you,” he said, “get up. Take your mat and go home.”

Authority (uh-thor-ih-tee) means ruler or boss. Jesus is in charge. He is God the Son.

Think!

Sometimes people in authority do wrong things that hurt others. They use their authority to make people do what they want. Jesus, God the Son, is not like that.

Jesus has authority over all things. But He loves you and will never do wrong. Only He can forgive your sins. Only He can help you to do right. You can trust and obey what He tells you in His Word.

You can pray like this:

Dear God, I am glad You are in charge. Please help me trust and obey You in all things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
