The grass snake

The rest of the body can be coloured from dark olive to grey, to light with dark side stripes ("barred ring snake"). No matter how the body is coloured, the neck patch remains clearly visible. It can therefore be easily recognised and distinguished from all other native snakes of Central Europe and also from the slow worm.
