The grass snake

The grass snake grows up to 1.5 m long (about as long as you are tall :-)) and is not poisonous. Therefore, you don't need to be afraid of it. However, it is always better for you to keep your distance and not to try to touch it. If the snake feels threatened, it hisses like a dangerous snake and then either plays dead or releases a bad smelling secretion. In an emergency, it can also bite.
